Serena Vignolini was born in Prato in 1980.

Self-taught by choice, she approaches the study and research of pictorial materials and the deepening of human nature starting from the representation of the body to get to the invisible sides of it.

Therefore, not only the anatomical study and its re-elaboration have significant importance, but also the reading of texts and the understanding of visual and sound “apparatuses”, eligible for inspirational sources.

This artistic development, over the years, essentially moves on two directives: the sense of painting, the one that can be known, and the underground and interpretable sense, the unknowable one. The intent, the real goal is, therefore, to find the possible mixture between the two artistic conditions, in order to identify them, recognize them and make them tangible in a single communicative line.

The knowable sense is, of course, that of “painted painting”, the one that reveals the artist’s images and intentions through gesture and matter. The brush moves on the canvas and creates a structure that can be read and translated into sensation, the one desired, the one created. The unknowable sense is what, ideally, makes the painting similar to a glimmer of light or a door ajar that you need to cross to understand what, despite being close to us, appears hidden. A conceptual movement of understanding, assimilation, codification of one’s own image creator.

Each work begins like this, without schemes, and continues with a hot processing of the first impression, to be translated and transcribed on the canvas. Each job ends like this, in the moment in which the image finds silence from the initial noise, perceives the condition, reconnects thoughts and relocates itself to the space that has always belonged to it. Her works are part of private and public collections, in Italy and abroad.
